Poi Tukua created a national movement that galvanised and unified Aotearoa and our international manuhiri, in its support of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. It built on the excitement and momentum of previous world cups, and stages of Te Matatini Kapahaka Festival, through the mana and taonga of poi and te ao māori.
To engage our tamariki and our rangatahi, we also created some simple “How to Make” and “How to Use” poi videos. The videos (in English and Te Reo), together with explainer PDFs, were distributed to schools and kura kaupapa around the motu, giving Aotearoa the tools to karawhuia – give poi a go.
